Flying in the West

The Su-29 has full Russian (AR23) certification, and we have obtained full Hungarian ‘Normal Category’ certification for the Su-29 in Hungary.  This has proved a great advantage, since Hungary is part of JAR and EASA.  In theory under EASA regulations, all such existing certifications will be transferred to all other EASA member countries, although, as yet, this has not been formally confirmed for the Su-29.  In the meantime however the Su-29 can fly without any restrictions on the Hungarian register.

The Su-31 is now undergoing the final stages of similar Type-Certification, and, as a first step within JAR, we will organise Hungarian certification.  In any case aircraft continue to fly in some European countries with Restricted Certificates of Airworthiness, or continue to fly on the Russian register.

Sukhois are flying in most European countries, as well as Indonesia, Middle East, Mexico, USA, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Argentina and Serbia.

Price

The current list price  'fly away' for the Su-29 or Su-31 is Euro 285,000, delivered Western Europe.  This is for an aircraft with everything necessary for normal use, although there is a wide range of options and extras, which we can discuss.

Terms are 50% on placing of order and 50% against presentation of formal ex-factory shipping documents.

Delivery

For European customers, we prefer to ship the aircraft, disassemble to the UK, where we reassemble and test fly the aircraft.  For customers in other parts of the world we typically ship the disassembled aircraft by sea, and then send an engineer to reassemble it locally.

Spares/Maintenance

We have the largest stock of Russian aircraft spares for Sukhoi and Yak in the West – some Euro 750,000 and other items are usually available from Sukhoi and Federal Express ensures immediate delivery. We would however emphasise that our experience on a worldwide basis with Sukhoi aircraft indicates that they are incredibly reliable, and maintenance is far less than comparable Western aircraft.

We also arrange for the training of our customer’s engineers, either with us in the UK or in Moscow with the manufactures themselves.  In this way the engineers will be authorise all scheduled maintenance of all aircraft on the Russian Register.

In addition we can suggest a package of line spares, which we sell at a discount if sold in conjunction with a new aircraft.  In this way an operator would be independent of ourselves for all routine maintenance, although for anything exceptional, we can provide the spare parts quite quickly (as above).

Paint Scheme

Sukhoi, following a considerable amount of research have devised a paint scheme that we believe is not only attractive, but also particularly suitable for an aerobatic aircraft, since it provides a very notable contrast between top and bottom surfaces.  This scheme is available in any combination of colours, essentially a light colour and a dark colour, and then a small amount of a contrasting colour (examples would be dark blue and white, with some red contrast, or bright red and white with black contrasts).

We can paint aircraft in any combination of colours (as long as they are from the standard range of Sikkens aircraft paint or RAL colour codes ranges) and can obviously give advice on the suitability of colour combinations.  There is no extra charge for any choice of colours within the standard scheme, although we make a charge of Euro 500 to paint an aircraft in metallic colours.

We can in addition paint aircraft in any colour/scheme requested by customers, but an extra charge of Euro 2,000 is made for this.  In addition we request that detailed drawings (on outline plan supplied by us) are supplied and equally that the colours are again from the Sikkens ranges.

Flight Training

We undertake to provide comprehensive flight training for any purchaser of a Sukhoi aircraft whether new or pre-owned.  Obviously, Sukhois are high-performance tail-wheeled aircraft and pilots do need to be appropriately qualified.

Having run an aerobatic team ourselves for some 20 years and for 8 years with Sukhoi aircraft, we are well able to give advice on all aspects of aerobatics, whether competition or displays.
